How to apply pictures to wood projects?
I am building a jewelry box for my daughters birthday and I found a beautiful picture that I would like to put on the door of the jewelry box. I downloaded the picture off the internet and printed it on photo paper. I want the picture to be under the varnish that will eventually be applied, how can I preserve the photo so that the colors don't run, or the paper doesn't wrinkle when the varnish is applied?
Your best bet, unless you have a color laser printer, is to put the downloaded file on a thumb drive or something similar to have it printed at a real photo place. This will give you a permanent image rather than a ink jet image that may smear and run.
If you really do not want to do that, you can spray the image with a 'sealer' found at any craft store, either matte finish or gloss. This may help stabilize the inks.

Remember to experiment with all steps of this process first before attacking the final project, so you have worked all the kinks out beforehand.
